Do You Have Beautiful Feet?

By October 31, 2022 No Comments

“. . .How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things.” (NASB)

You know I can recall in the movie, “Forrest Gump,” while he is sitting on a bus stop bench with a young black nurse and looking down at her feet then mentions about her comfortable looking shoes and says, “Mama always says that you can tell an awful lot about a person by looking at their shoes; where they goin, where they been . . .” The question for you today is where have your feet “been” and where are they “goin?” Have you been honoring Christ’s command to:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

It’s very easy for many of us who are Christians to sit in the pew and watch the proverbial “Shepherds” of the “flock” do all that sort of work, however, the command from our Lord in the above portion of scripture is for all of us. It is not wholly our fault that we have this mindset of sitting on the sidelines and watching the “professionals” do the job for the rest of us; its ingrained in our spiritual DNA due to a lack of proper teaching about the responsibility of the “Church.” You know the word “Church” itself is transliterated from the Greek ekklesia (εκκλησία) which means “assembly” or a gathering/congregation “called out ones.” Refers to the same word for church in Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 1:22, I Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:13 etc.

Years ago, when I was in the United States Navy, The Captain or “Skipper” of the ship would call out the crew to General Quarters to prepare for offensive or defensive attacks from or against the enemy. Everyone was to take their positions, batten down the hatches, “man” their “battle stations,” secure the ship for battle and engage the enemy. We—the Church, are at the twilight of the End times and are readily approaching the dawn of our Lord’s return. Listen to this word sounding “General Quarters” from the Apostle Paul that is so relevant today:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints . . . Ephesians 6: 12-17

Based upon the aforementioned scripture are you prepared to engage the enemy? Are you ready, as a good soldier/sailor to carry the GOSPEL OF PEACE into Satan’s territory to bring salvation to captives in the bondage of SIN? If not now, when? If then when, how? The Apostle Paul writes the following:

For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!’—Romans 10:12-15 NASB

Pastor-teachers, evangelists it is imperative that you equip the church to bring the “good news of good things!” by facilitating their incursion into the enemy’s territory. To do otherwise would be a dereliction of duty. Christian-saints of God, it is your duty to engage in sharing your faith with the lost. Where have your feet been? Where are they “goin?” Do you have beautiful feet? Look down at your feet. Go ahead and do it NOW because LOST LIVES MATTER!
